Teamwork was far from frozen at the Hillside Intermediate School
A genuine commitment from an entire community resulted in a spectacular performance from the Hillside Intermediate School Drama Club.
The students and staff—with assistance from many other loyal hands—produced a highly successful spring musical when Frozen Jr. was performed on Wednesday, March 18, during a school-wide assembly during the morning and that evening, as well as the night of Thursday, March 19, when families and friends dominated the audience that jammed the school's all-purpose room.
To hear the devoted and hard-working Co-Advisors of the Hillside Drama Club—Anna O'Brien, Patrick Blood, and Isabella Halligan—you will understand how one large and vibrant group produced such a terrific musical performance.
"Frozen Jr. was a tremendous success not only on stage, but beyond it as well. Throughout the process, students formed meaningful friendships and developed skills that will stay with them for years to come," Ms. O'Brien claimed. "This group consistently demonstrated positivity, kindness, and teamwork from start to finish. The school and wider community truly enjoyed the performance and embraced the show's heartfelt message of love, and I have heard nothing but positive feedback from those who attended."
Ms. O'Brien, a 6th Grade Teacher at Hillside, shared her belief in the vital role of teamwork in the production's success.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to co-direct this production alongside such a dedicated team: Ms. Halligan, Mr. Blood, Ms. (Shannon) Leff, Ms. (Teresa) Gunning, and Ms. (Sharorn) Lawton. Each member played a vital role in bringing this show to life. It is truly a special team that holds a lasting place in my heart. Witnessing the final product and all that was accomplished filled me with immense pride and joy."
Mr. Blood, a Teacher's Assistant at Adamsville Primary School, and Ms. Halligan, a 6th Grade Teacher at Hillside, echoed Ms. O'Brien's comments on the efforts of so many dedicated people.
"The kids were sensational," Mr. Blood declared.
He continued to spread the word about the value of working together as a single unit.
"This group's passion for the arts and excitement for the work shown through in their performances. However, it takes a village to get them to this level. If it wasn't for the support of the students' parents, our families, the Hillside administration, Hillside custodians, and all the other incredible educators at Hillside, this show wouldn't have been the sensational piece it was."
"This experience this year has been extra special thanks to our co-directors, parents, cast, crew, and design crew! I was so fortunate to have a few students helping bring the world of Arendelle to life," Ms. Halligan said. "The students have worked so incredibly hard to make this show a success, and it has truly been an honor to be a part of it! I have really enjoyed being witness to the growth of the students throughout the process, and they have shown such enthusiasm and passion for theater; their support of one another is an additional reason why I love being part of the Hillside Dram Club!"
Ms. O'Brien concluded.
"Thank you to everyone who supported us along the way. Every contribution, no matter how small, made a meaningful difference in the success of our show."
