Their dedication and commitment to working as a team shined on stage when the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School presented Shrek The Musical Jr.
A total of 72 Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School students—49 actors and 23 crew members— worked together to present three performances—a matinee on both Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8, for their schoolmates and staff, and then the premier showcase on the evening of Friday, May 8, before the general public.
All three shows were successfully performed in the school’s auditorium.
Each production featured skilled talent from actors who are in just the 7th and 8th Grades, while the crew behind the curtain was equally splendid.
Their delivery and ability to entertain the large crowds received high grades.
Just ask the three directors, who themselves must be applauded for their efforts and tireless work.
Olivia Matko, who is the Middle School Drama Club and Musical Advisor, touched on how three months of practice were reflected on stage.
“All three performances were spectacular successes! I am so proud of all of the hard work that the cast and crew put into this show over the last three months. It was not always easy, but these students showed up and did what they needed to do,” Ms. Matko revealed.
Francesca DiFazio, a veteran of plays and musicals at the Middle School, shared her thoughts on this wonderful show.
“ I am incredibly proud of the work and energy that the students brought to the stage in Shrek The Musical JR. This is my 30th production at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, and each year I am more and more impressed with the levels of talent our students bring,” Ms. DiFazio claimed. “ I am also incredibly thankful to my co-directors, Olivia Matko and Julia Meisterich, for their dedication to the students and this production.”
“I am so proud of all the hard work from our students. They really helped to make the show their own,” Ms. Meisterich said. “All three performances were so successful because of them. It has been so great working with such a wonderful cast and crew, as well as Ms. Matko and Ms. DiFazio!”
Ms. Matko credited the teamwork that resulted in such a fantastic musical.
“It helped that the whole group became one big family, willing to support and encourage one another, no matter their differences. Everyone made their mark. This was our collective story to share with audiences.”
