The students rallied, and with that effort, they hold the bragging rights for this school year.
The 25th edition of the Big Nick Classic, the popular traditional basketball game at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, was played before its usual large crowd on Thursday evening, February 26.
Over 500 spectators attended this lively rivalry at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School gym, where the students' team scored a 30-25 victory over a faculty team.
That victory was the fourth in five years for the students, who avenged a 46-45 defeat at the hands of the teachers in 2025.
The faculty had held the lead, but the students rallied to secure the prized victory.
The Big Nick Classic, which is sponsored by the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School Student Council, is played in honor of the late Nick Klecz, who served as a teacher and coach in the district for nearly 40 years.
The game was also dedicated in memory of Dan Grigal, who was a beloved Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School Physical Education Teacher and Basketball Coach.
The success of the event can be attributed to Meghan Wilkinson and Kim Pratt, the Co-Advisors of the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School Student Council.
"It was a fun night for the students, faculty, parents, and community. Students and faculty came together on Friday for a BR spirit day, showing we are all proud Panthers," Ms. Wilkinson said.
