A tea party featuring some heartfelt and lovely sounds.
That was the setting when orchestra students from the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School performed just down the road from their building at the Bridgewater Township Senior Center on Friday, February 13.
Eight orchestra students, accompanied by their Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School teachers, Caty Butler and Tim Nuzzetti, performed during a lunchtime activity titled the Valentine’s Tea Party at the Senior Center.
Jennifer Osterberg, the Senior Citizen Program Coordinator for the Bridgewater Township Senior Center, helped broker this holiday concert.
“This was the first time we’ve had these students play for us. We were thrilled to have them, and I asked Caty if they could come back next year for our Valentine’s Day Tea Party,” Ms. Osterberg said.
She explained what this annual Valentine’s Day party is all about.
“For the past several years, we’ve been partnering with Parker Life to host a Valentine’s Tea Party for our members. This event is an opportunity to pause from our regular schedule and enjoy each other’s company in a lovely setting, strengthening friendships and remembering the special people in our lives. It’s a great opportunity for those who are lonely to come and feel special on a day such as Valentine’s Day,” she said.
Ms. Osterberg added.
“Parker Life provides tea sandwiches and fruit, and Bridgewater Township provides delicate desserts to make the tablescape elegant and memorable. We use real teacups to add an extra special touch!”
The visit from the Middle School was a perfect remedy for the audience.
“We want our members to feel refreshed in their souls when they leave this event, and hearing the orchestra music from the students was a perfect way to do just that! The piano solos were phenomenal, and the string ensembles were delightful! Our members receive joy from watching young people succeed in their endeavors,” Ms. Osterberg concluded.
“We are very excited about this opportunity to perform at the senior center and showcase the many talents of the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School students,” Ms. Butler said. “We were grateful for the opportunity!”
