The cast and crew who teamed up to present the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School Play were not acting once the curtain closed.
These students all desired that the show must go on.
No acting job there.
The performance of the Middle School Play for 2024, Dorothy in Wonderland, was staged on the evening of Friday, November 15, in the school’s auditorium before a crowd of family, friends and staff.
A matinee performance was presented before the student body on Thursday, November 14, for the 8th Grade, and Friday, November 15, for the 7th Grade.
Once the shows were completed, Olivia Matko, who was the Middle school Play's Co-Director with Carla Fernandez, noticed the attitude of her student actors.
“After our last show, you could hear students' cheers of joy but also sad remarks about how they do not want it to be over,” revealed Ms. Matko, who is the Drama Club and Musical Advisor at the Middle School.
She credited the friendships that were produced in the many weeks of practicing and rehearsing for the show.
“My favorite part of any production is the friendships that form throughout the rehearsal and performance process,” Ms. Matko said. “The bonds that these students make will last a lifetime, and it is always an honor to be a part of such a meaningful memory.”
Ms. Matko was also impressed by the results of those many hours of rehearsing produced.
“We were so proud of how all three performances of Dorothy in Wonderland, went! The cast and crew worked so hard to pull this show together, especially in the two weeks leading up, that it was just so rewarding to see everything pay off.”
Next up will be the Spring Musical on Friday, May 2. The title of that performance has not yet been announced.
But Ms. Matko is prepared for another sparkling showing from the student actors for that event.
“We had such a talented group this year and I hope they all come out for the musical in the spring,’ she said.
