BRHS art students juried winners

Four gifted students in the National Art Honor Society at Bridgewater-Raritan High School have just become members of a very select group of elite artists.

The 11th annual National Art Honor Society/National Junior Art Honor Society (NAHS/NJAHS) Juried Exhibition of Artwork just announced its selections.

And the artworks from Marlene Morales, Suza Lu, Lucia Bolle and Amalia Marquardt from the Bridgewater-Raritan High School National Art Honor Society were just four of 92 artworks that were selected from a field of over 2,000 submissions.

Sarah Nasson, Art Teacher and Advisor of the National Art Honor Society at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, reported on the prestigious honor these four students earned.

“The NAEA received a record-breaking 2,007 submissions from schools around the world for the 2026 NAHS Juried Exhibition,” Ms. Nasson said. “Of these, 92 artworks were selected for the show. Among the selected pieces, four students from Bridgewater-Raritan High School had the honor of having their work chosen: Marlene Morales, Suza Lu, Lucia Bolle and Amalia Marquardt."

Ms. Nasson explained the process.

“The submissions were juried digitally by NAEA arts leaders from the Preservice Division. The exhibition will be held virtually on the National Art Education Association (NAEA) website, www.arteducators.org, in the exhibitions section, from April 10 to August 31, 2026. This exhibition highlights the talents of student artists who are members of NAEA’s NAHS and NJAHS programs.”

She concluded.

“The jurors evaluated the submissions based on five criteria: Visual Communication, Execution, Formal Elements, Originality, and Artist Statement.”
