Bridgewater-Raritan High School will bid to win its first-ever state ice hockey championship when it plays Ridgewood High School on Monday, March 9, at the Prudential Center in Newark.
Game time is 3:15 p.m. for the Public state championship game at the home of the NHL's New Jersey Devils.
Bridgewater-Raritan (22-3-1), which is ranked 11th in New Jersey, has appeared in three state championship games but has never been crowned a state champion.
In the 2007 state Public final, Bridgewater-Raritan was defeated by Randolph High School.
Randolph beat Bridgewater-Raritan again in the 2013 Public A state title game, and the following year, in the 2014 Public A state final, Bridgewater-Raritan was defeated by Morris Knolls High School.
Ridgewood (21-4), ranked 13th in the state, appeared in its first-ever state championship game last winter when it fell to Westfield High School in the Public title game.
Public A state championships were held from 2008 through 2023, and classifications were changed in 2024 to the current Public, Public Co-Op, and Non-Public format.
