Bridgewater-Raritan High School held its annual Flag Football Turkey Bowl on Thursday, November 20, on the 1000 Turf Field.

Each year during the Thanksgiving season, Project Sunshine, a Bridgewater-Raritan High School club and non-profit that funds activity kits to support children in hospitals, is the host to the Turkey Bowl for students.

This year, Frank Ur, a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, took charge of organizing the event.

Mr. Ur reflected on his inclination to help run the Turkey Bowl this year.

“My son Brandon asked me to help, and since it's his senior year, I decided to do just that."

I didn’t want him and his friends to lose out on the ability to participate, and since no one else stepped up, I figured I should,” he said.

The bracket was made up of eight teams wearing themed costumes, each comprising six players.

In the first round, Blue won over Hawaiian, Black won over White, Christmas won over Grey and Onesies won over Red.

In the semifinals, Onesies defeated Blue, and Black defeated Christmas to advance to the final match.

In the final round, Onesies defeated Black to be crowned the 2025 Turkey Bowl champion.

The winning team consisted of Nico Moore, Nicholas Spirra, Jack Braswell, Brandon Leonard, Ean Driscoll, and Shane Higgins.

Project Sunshine, along with the school as a whole, looks forward to organizing and hosting events like this in the future to further build the school community.
