National French Week offered a wonderful opportunity to honor the French language and its rich cultural heritage.
At Bridgewater-Raritan High School, the French Club, French Honor Society, and dedicated French teachers collaborated to create a week filled with fun and learning for the entire school community.
A highlight of the week was the annual trivia competitions for students and staff, organized each year by Madame Kostis. More than 30 student groups answered questions about francophone history, arts, sciences, sports, and culture. Sara Cleary’s 3rd period AP seminar class took first place and will enjoy a French-style breakfast on November 20, during their class period.
Teachers also joined in the friendly competition, with over 30 staff members participating. Chia Ying Jeng-Liu, Imrin Thind, and Abbe Rubin claimed the top spots, each earning a special French-themed gift.
The French Club also served as the host of its annual chalk art event, turning school walkways into vibrant displays of French words, phrases, and images. This creative activity allowed students to practice French while celebrating the week’s spirit.
All of these events were made possible by the enthusiasm and dedication of our French teachers. Their passion brings French language and culture to life for students, inspiring appreciation for both its beauty and practical value.
While National French Week lasts just a few days, its impact on the Bridgewater-Raritan community will be felt for a long time afterward.
