The sounds from the instruments that they produced matched the expressions on their faces.
The Bridgewater-Raritan High School presented the Winter Orchestra Concert on Tuesday, December 10, before an attentive and appreciated audience in the high school auditorium.
While the splendid music presented resulted in an enjoyable evening, the high school’s Orchestra Director, Hsiao-Lin (Sherry) Griggs was quite satisfied with what she saw as much as what she heard.
“My goal is for our students to be proud of their finished product. I watched their faces and saw how proud they were,” Ms. Griggs revealed after the performance. “I am happy for them that they feel good about themselves.”
The high school’s four orchestra groups came away proud of their performances.
The Ninth Orchestra launched the evening’s show, followed by the Piu Vivace. The Concert Orchestra was the third group who played and the Symphony Orchestra closed the performance.
They all shined—and smiled—following the lead of their dedicated director.
That fact was noticed by Matt McCarthy, the school district’s Supervisor for Arts Education.
“It was simply sublime,” Mr. McCarthy said. “Mrs. Griggs knows how to inspire students, and this comes through in their performance. It is so wonderful to experience the result of these young musician’s hard work and dedication.”
