National French Week was a time to celebrate the French language and culture.
So at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, the French Club, French Honor Society, and French teachers teamed up to make this week memorable for the entire school community.
One of the highlights of the week was the annual staff and student trivia contests. Over 40 classes participated in the contest which tested students' knowledge of francophone culture, history, arts, sciences, and sports. Sherry Griggs’ 4th period Orchestra class won the competition and was treated to a French-style breakfast on Thursday, November 21, during their class.
The staff competition was also well received as over 35 teachers entered. For the staff competition, Amanda Hodge, Kristine Onacilla and Evan Rosenberg were the winners. They each received a French gift.
The French Honor Society decorated the bulletin board in the 700 Building with pictures and mementos of this past year’s events, trips and awards. The display not only highlighted the accomplishments of the French Honor Society but also served as a visual celebration of its dedication to promoting the French language and culture. Each item on display serves as a glimpse into the meaningful experiences shared by all.
The French Club hosted its annual chalk talk event when students gathered to decorate the school’s walkways to honor National French Week. The colorful display includes French words, phrases, and pictures. It was a creative and interactive way for students to practice some French and to celebrate French culture.
Behind all of these activities were our enthusiastic French teachers Madame Jenn Haff, Madame Maria Kostis, Madame Adrienne Lutz and Madame Shilpa Wakde, who work collaboratively to bring the French language and culture alive for their students. Through their passion and enthusiasm, they strive to inspire students to appreciate the beauty and usefulness of the French language.
National French Week may only last for a few days, but its impact on our school community will surely last longer.
