The sounds that school is about to end for the year were held once again at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School.

An annual tradition was performed on Friday, June 12, when the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School held its Spring Music Assemblies in the school's auditorium.

The student body and staff were treated to performances by the Middle School 8th Grade and 7th Grade students in choir, orchestra, and band. Also performing were the faculty choir and two student musical bands.

The wonderful production was guided by the Middle School's passionate team of musical directors--- Dr. Ashlen Udell, Caty Butler, Gabriele Hingelberg, Barron Caromano, and Tim Nuzzetti.

Students at Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School have learned how to raise ducks.
The students in JenniferJohnson’s Science class experienced that unique opportunity.
Ms. Johnson, who regularly implements a curriculum that includes interesting aspects of science, explained this lesson.
“Our curriculum includes learning about the characteristics of living things, and this project gave students the opportunity to apply those concepts through the experience of raising ducks,” Ms. Johnson said. “Students began by researching Khaki Campbell ducks and sharing what they learned with the class. Soon after, we received eight duck eggs, which were placed in an incubator. After one week of anticipation, seven of the eight eggs hatched.”
Ms. Johnson went on to discuss the project.
“Working in groups, students observed the ducklings' behavior and development over time. This hands-on experience helped them connect what they were learning in science to the world around them while gaining a better understanding of what living things need to survive and grow.”
She added:
“They also learned that even when ideal environmental conditions are provided, survival is not always guaranteed, as demonstrated by the one egg that did not hatch.”
During the week of June 8, the eggs were hatched, and the ducks—all seven— were distributed around the classroom for the students to hold and pet.
Ms. Johnson summarized the experience her students gained.
“It has been especially rewarding to watch the students care for the ducklings and show such enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the project. Their thoughtful observations, questions, and excitement have made this a meaningful and memorable learning experience for everyone involved.”
The ducks will now waddle on from the Middle School on Friday, June 12. Four ducks will be transferred to Quiver Farms in Pennsylvania, while two will go home with a teacher and another with a student.

Debbie Johnston, an Administrative Assistant at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, celebrated the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District’s Week of Respect by wearing the hockey jersey of the legendary Bobby Hull---once her neighbor in Addison, Illinois.
On Tuesday, October 7, the theme for the Week of Respect was Team Up for Kindness, when staff and students wore their favorite sports team shirts. Ms. Johnston donned the famed No. 9 jersey that Hull wore during his brilliant 15-year career playing for the Chicago Black Hawks in the National Hockey League.
Ms. Johnston's family, many years ago, were neighbors in the suburb of Chicago of the NHL Hall of Famer who played professionally for 23 years before he retired in 1980. Hull passed away in 2023.
Hull’s son Brett also went on to be inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame, too. They are the only father-son duo to each score over 500 career goals ever in the NHL.
