Middle School Wind Ensemble performed with collegiate bands at Montclair State

The skilled students who comprise the Wind Ensemble at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School stepped up to the collegiate level on Tuesday, April 23.

Ashlen Udell, the Middle School Director for the 8th Grade Band and the Wind Ensemble shared what she called “A very exciting performance for our Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School Wind Ensemble.”

“They were invited to perform at Montclair State University with the Montclair State bands on their Spring Concert on April 23,” said Ms. Udell, who is an alumnus of Montclair  State University.

She further touched on how the day was a fantastic experience for the Middle School students.

“It was a highlight of our school year! The students were very excited and worked extremely hard for this performance,” Ms. Udell said. “This is a prestigious honor as this opportunity has only been given to high school ensembles in previous years. Ensembles of a high caliber and quality musicianship are invited. For this concert, we were the only school performing with the MSU ensembles.”

Ms. Udell revealed that the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School Wind Ensemble is a mixed 7th and 8th Grade band that meets after school once a week at the Middle School.

“I am so proud of our Middle School Wind Ensemble students and the positive experience they had,” Ms. Udell said.

Two of the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School’s performances at Montclair State have been captured in a video below.
