As part of Pride Month, we would like to recognize Harvey Milk. Harvey Milk became the first openly gay person elected to public office in California. He gave hope to LGBTQ people everywhere at a time when the community was encountering widespread discrimination. His career was tragically cut short when he was assassinated nearly a year after taking office. Harvey Milk said: “It takes no compromise to give people their rights ... it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom.”
